Was on edge the entire episode and ofc as usual leaving us with a cliffhanger. Sawatari already got overtaken. Hopefully Kanata can remain at 3?

Just a fantastic episode with Kanata being chased down by the Ferrari am so looking forward to seeing the finale of this battle animated next week as it was so good in the manga.

Without seeing the approaching Ferrari in this forested section, all Kanata can do is focus on shaving off as much time as possible.
Sawatari thought he could pull one over on Beckenbauer on the relay straight but he regained his number 1 position. If it's any consolation though, Beckenbaurer recognises the fight Sawatari put up.
The track is drying; we end the episode on reality catching up to the 86 in the form of a Ferrari. When will Kanata be overtaken?

If you have not watched initial D then I know why the fan service would bother someone, but you have to remember that they're trying to capture the same kind of thing that initial D did which had fan service in it

Correct, I haven't watched the original. But if I understand correctly the original was based on high-school drama with racing and love triangles.
However, with this show taking place years later and the main cast grown up. The use of fan service seems redundant. For one, the Mc is more focused on finding his father than chasing ass. Then you factor the one guy chasing ass. He turns out to be the least liked character in the series thus far. I know they say "sex sells," but this has to be those rarer instance it doesn't.

@Mariklyn it is so clearly not required that I have decided it has another purpose. It is not fan service at all, rather it's trying to widen the story, tell a story from the perspective of the grid girls. with the fan service part of the documentary style, showing what they experience. It is a behind the scenes story overall.

It seems like poor directing or visual story telling. I can understand not every scene has to be action with cars. Like in this episode they showed the girls parents watching with the mom walking away from the TV. I would argue that way more interesting than any ass shot of the car girls talking about how cute the drivers are. . . They also like to do shots of random bars of people watching the races. If only they spent time slowly revealing Kanata's Dad watching. To build suspense as the viewer. Finally, let's be honest the art style of the girls are not attractive. They look ugly and have same face syndrome just different hairdos.

As for Kanata, he's performing beyond 100% with his Toyota 86 flying, but the Ferrari 488 was going to catch up to him sooner or later as the conditions of the race becomes drier. The next episode will conclude the race and I look forward to seeing who will win in the battles for 1st and 3rd place respectively.

In that moment when Blue Alpine and White Porshe raced for the first place, it sinked to me that i do not like any character in this show, i kind of like Kanata, but he is main character, but i do not care of whatver wins, unless kanata is racing for the win. These characters are the worst i have ever seen.

please stop showing the other racers, i highly doubt anyone cares for these random support characters its only eating screen time from what we are here for aka the god damn main character.
i completely forgot kanata was looking for his dad because this one damn race has continued since the last season and we are over half done with this season
